What sets the black man of America a part from any other culture, race or ethnic group? If you go by the stereotypes that dominate the perception of others of the black man, you would think we are nothing more than an ugly blemish on America. For years, the black man had to fight not only the stereotypes and lack of equality but its own inability to break out of the entrapment of the mind.
Consider the truth of what the black man has done for America, for the world and you would see us in a different light. This is the start of a series of blog entries titled, The B.M. Differences. For better or worse, I'm going to give you an insider look into the many facets of the modern black man. Don't take these blog entries as the end all, I am just giving you a small window into what is a 100 story skyscraper.
The subject of this blog post is near and dear to most men, women. Add into the mix the perception of the hip-hop culture and the stereotypes; the black man's relationship with the opposite sex is storied. Our relationships with women can be compared to our link to our mothers. Often times, a black woman is strong and aggressive, both mentally and physically. The physical traits usually involve a thick booty, large thighs and a facial stare that can cause armies to crumble.
I truly do not know where our love of a big thick booty and thick thighs come from; likely a metaphor of substance lacking in some area of our culture or the trepidation of true wealth or abundances. It simply could be a tie to nature's law. Whatever the reason, men, especially black men love that certain lower part of a woman's body; the bigger, the better. Like the cultures that exist, there are many preferences that our beloved female counterparts adapt into. This isn't a sexist post but an evaluation of the factors that play a part in the male's love of booty.
Humans fight against the peer pressure of society and our own reflection of self image. For the most part, the black culture has been oblivious to these aforementioned factors. Typically, black men love thick women. The way black males emphasize their views on booty is the same compared to how white males view breasts. This emphasis is substantiated by the large volume of booty shots in the common hip-hop/rap video.
White women before discovering the interracial relationship were bogged down by their poor self images. You would rarely see a white woman wear tight form fitting jeans if she has a large behind. White men at one time (arguably a lot still do) cared only about stick figure women with huge breasts. Examples of this still remain in how "top models" appear almost skeleton-like on the runways around the world. Is it fashionable to see your heart beating behind your ribcage?
Times have changed considerably and with the influx of the hip-hop culture blending into the daily American life, big booties on all types of women is accepted. Everywhere I turn my head, I see a mix baby smiling at me (my family started much earlier than other American families with interracial marriage) and the common ingredients of that mix baby is a black male and white female. I see a world where "mixies" are the majority but that's a different topic for another blog entry.
So I say to the white women of American, love your curves. Love "what ya momma gave ya" as the phrase goes. If you have a big booty and your boyfriend, lover, husband keeps telling you to go on a diet, wear tighter jeans and I promise you'll find a man (if you're opened to interracial relationships or even white men who love some junk in the trunk) that will love all of you just the way you are. Love your ass....
